Go straight over the Míru Square, then turn right and you will reach the main crossroad with a road heading towards Písek. Cross it and a long flat will take you to Mačkov.

In Mačkov begins a long climb, continue straight on the road. On the left side you will pass a flooded quarry above Mačkov. Still climbing, on the left side, at the edge of the forest, you will see a nice chapel embracing the roots of a large beech.
Chapel of the Virgin Mary
Built in 1815 by Alois Helversen, the owner of the estate in Čekanice in memory of his rescue at the Battle of Leipzig (1813), which he took part in as a knight, and severely wounded was found by a soldier from the region. The chapel was renewed in 1907 and there used to be a spring nearby allegedly with healing water. Near the chapel are Rošice, which used to be the yard of the Čekanice estate. After a long climb you will go down through the cherry alley to the village of Čekanice.
Čekanice
Oldřich of Čekanice was named after the village, commemorated in 1274. In the 14th century there were several rulers' estates. Later became the owners Řepičtí of Sudoměř, Vratislavové, Horčicové of Prostý, Enisové and Helversenové. The chateau was built on the site of an older Renaissance building in 1785. In its vicinity there are farm buildings with interesting Baroque gables. A park area of 1.56 ha surrounds the chateau, opposite the entrance to the chateau is Husův kámen, unveiled in 1901. In Čekanice was born Josef Velenovský in a house no. 5, an important Czech botanist (1858–1949).

In Čekanice turn right on a narrow road in the direction of Zaboří before climbing steeply. At first you will have to climb again, but then the road runs more or less on a plain between meadows and fields. You will arrive at the intersection of narrow roads.

The intersection can be identified by the high stone cross. The road on the right leads to Jindřichovice, straight to Záboří and on the left to Bratronice. Turn left towards Bratronice.

In Bratronice turn right towards Záboří.

In Záboří turn left along the road towards Čečelovice. The road will soon be marked by a green trail. Then you will enjoy a long climb. On the hill you will be rewarded by breath-taking views of Blatná, but also towards the Šumava hills.

In Čečelovice keep following the green trail. Go down the road to Lnářský Málkov. Again, nice views will open up.

Pass through the village, at the end of which the green trail turns right to the unpaved road. It leads between forests and ponds, through a very nice Blatná landscape.
Nature reserve
Follow on the dam of the Velká Kuš pond. The green trail will lead you to the village of Vrbno.

In Vrbno turn right down the road. Right behind the village turn following the green trail. The asphalt road leads to a large children's summer camp. The uneven unpaved road continues. Cross the dam of Velký Pálenec pond. The green trail will lead you to the Hadí pond, where you can swim. There is also a water slide.

Keep following the green trail. After a while follow the road around the Hadí pond, then turn left along the green trail to the forest road. This shortcut through the forest is very pleasant. After several kilometres through the forest, you will find yourself by the gamekeeper's house on the road to Blatná where you turn left. In Blatná you will be first by the petrol station. Cross the main road to Nepomuk and cross the crossing, passing the Sokol house back to the square to the church tower.

Natural points of interest of the 8th trail
Above Mačkov there is a flooded quarry Balkov used by divers to the left of the road. In its vicinity nest eagle owl. In Čekanice and Bratronice there are nests of white storks. Behind Doubravice, on the right from the road from Nahošín to Bratronice, there is a 27-hectare reserve Kovašínské louky. Blatná region has the largest protected plant community of rare meadow, wetland and peat species, such as Pedicularis palustris, Dactylorhiza majalis, Eriophorum, Gentiana pneumonanthe, Carex diandra, Menyanthes trifoliata and others. Among the songbirds there are nesting pipit, whinchat, reed warblers, grass warblers and often waders, especially lapwings. There is a beautiful path from Záboří through the forest to the pond Velká Kuš (see the 7th trail). In the vicinity of the pond there is a nature reserve of the same name protecting the vegetation of dry boulder pastures including peat communities in waterlogged parts. In some places in the vicinity there is still an interesting "carnivorous" sundew.
