The list is indeed not complete as there is countless number of sacral buildings of different historic and architectonical importance. However, we do our best to complement it continuously.
Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie)The church was built in the Gothic style by the Lev of Rožmitál in the years 1444 - 1515. This monumental building is 37 meters long and 16 meters high, it also has a cellar vault of the two-aisled hall supported by slender columns. The presbytery is vaulted by a net vault. The sculptor and woodcarver Ferdinand Ublacker and painters Jan Václav Spitzer and Jan František Hoffmann participated in the decoration of the church. The bell tower standing near the church is 45 meters high. After a fire in 1834 it was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style and adapted to the church architecture. More… |
Paštiky – Church of Saint John the Baptist (Kostel svatého Jana Křtitele)The work of the brilliant Baroque builder Kilian Ignác Dienzenhofer and the dominant of the whole Blatná region. The church was built between 1747 - 1753 on the site of an older Gothic church. The interior is uniform, also from the mid-18th century. The area is complemented by a tomb with a chapel and a wall from the same period. More |
Újezdec – Church of Saint Ursula (Kostel svaté Voršily)Romanesque-Gothic building from around the mid-13th century. The ground plan with a tower in the corner of the nave is typical for the South Bohemian area. The double windows of the tower are Romanesque; portal with moulding in the northern wall of the nave is of Nepomuk type and with Gothic elements. More |
Kadov – Church of Saint Wenceslas (Kostel svatého Václava)From the originally early Gothic church has been preserved a presbytery with a ribbed vault and sacristy. In the second half of the 18th century the church was rebuilt in the Baroque style. Near the church there are tombstones from the 16th century. More… |
